Disclosure of details about a new gas field in Egypt

Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources spokesman Hamdi Abdel Aziz revealed details about the gas field located near Al-Arish, explaining that reserves are currently being assessed.

Abdel Aziz said during a telephone conversation with the media, Azza Mustafa, on the Tahrir Hall program broadcast on the satellite channel Sada Al-Balad on Sunday evening, that this discovery is part of the Ministry of Petroleum’s plan for research and exploration to increase production and reserves.

Engineer Hamdi Abdel Aziz, a spokesman for the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, confirmed that the oil discovery is a first for US giant Chevron Company in Egypt as it has started exploration work in the Mediterranean region and received 3 blocks in 2020.

In early December, the international company Chevron announced the discovery of a new gas well in its areas of operation in Egypt called Narges 1, according to a post by the Egyptian Information Service on its Facebook page.

Authorities said the new well is located in the Narges Offshore Zone in the Mediterranean near Arish in North Sinai, where the Narges offshore concession area is 445,000 acres and Chevron is the operator with a 45% share of the concession, with 100% EOIC owning 45 % of the concession, and Tharwa Petroleum Company owns 10% of the shares.
