‘Disenchantment’ Season 5: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot, And Everything We Know So Far

When we went to Dreamland again in February 2022, it was clear that the country had been through a lot worse. The end of the fourth season of Disenchantment was pretty sad. The world was on the verge of falling apart, and our heroes and their friends were all over the place. Luckily, the kingdom’s luck will (hopefully) change soon because we’re almost done waiting for the next batch of episodes. It was just revealed that the final episodes of Disenchantment will be back on Netflix in a very short amount of time. Even though it will be sad to say goodbye to this amazingly silly and dramatic animated fantasy show, let’s hope it ends on a good note. After 40 episodes of crazy adventures to Heaven, Hell, Steamland, and back, can our ragtag group of questionable heroes save the day and bring power back to Dreamland? We should hope so! Read on to find out everything we know so far about Season 5 of Disenchantment.

What Is the Release Date for ‘Disenchantment’ Season 5?

Yes! The ten episodes of Season 5 of Disenchantment are set to be released on Netflix on Friday, September 1, 2023. All ten new shows will come out at once, so this last trip through Dreamland will be a great one to watch all at once. You can watch all four “parts” of Disenchantment right now on Netflix. If you haven’t seen the series before and want to catch up, or if you want to watch them again before the last batch of shows comes out, you can find them all in one place.

Is There A Trailer For Disenchantment Season 5?

On August 2, 2023, Netflix posted this official trailer for Season 5 of Disenchantment. It does a great job of summarizing Bean’s journey so far in the series. Bean and her best friends Elfo and Luci have been fighting against Queen Dagmar and her evil forces for a long time, but they have been losing. “Part” 5 looks just as intense, as the trailer shows Bean’s final showdown with Dagmar, with the fate of Dreamland (and maybe even the whole world!) in the balance. Only time will tell if our unlikely group of heroes will escape this epic last stand, but we can still hope for a happy ending even though God says “the worst is yet to come.” Also on August 17, 2023, Collider was the first to show a new video for Season 5 of Disenchantment. Look at it below:

What Happened Previously on Disenchantment?

Disenchantment Season 4 began with Queen Dagmar trying to force Bean to marry Satan in order to settle her longstanding debts in Hell. Suffice it to say, Dagmar’s plan quickly falls apart when Bean escapes back to Dreamland with Elfo and Luci, further fuelling her desire to get revenge and take over the kingdom. Upon arriving in Dreamland alongside King Zøg, now cured of his madness, they all discover that it has already been taken over by Cloyd and Becky in their absence. The two are being manipulated by a cursed ventriloquist dummy named Freckles who has come to life. The identity of who is possessing Freckles is unknown, but the dummy has an unusually strong connection to Zøg, prompting many fan theories as to who it may be.

After the throne is taken back from Cloyd and Becky, Freckles escapes for the time being. Bean discovers that Dreamland was once the true home of the elves and Sea Trøgs, the latter of which have been secretly living in a submerged part of Dreamland Castle. Zøg also learns he has a bear cub son that he names Jasper. Meanwhile, the elves and Sea Trøgs are fighting over a magical goo, while Bean has nightmares about their rising conflict and her mother, Queen Dagmar, returning. Bean unexpectedly meets a doppelganger (Bad Bean) with magical abilities, who is secretly working for Dagmar and Satan to corrupt her. Both Beans have a massive showdown that destroys part of Dreamland. Bad Bean is defeated, but Bean is nearly killed. She is saved by the mermaid Mora, while Zøg and Orval travel to Steamland to rescue Derek and Jasper, who were lured there by Freckles. All five end up being captured by P.T. who owns a local circus that showcases “freaks”. With everyone split up and drawn away from Dreamland once again, Dagmar and Satan return to claim the throne.

What Is Disenchantment Plot?

Without question, Season 4 of Disenchantment was very busy, and now that we look back, we can see why! It had to set up a lot of different plots for the last set of episodes that are coming up. Season 5 is likely to be just as entertainingly chaotic since there are so many characters. All of the show’s biggest mysteries should be solved, and the conflict in Dreamland should be settled. So, now that we know that, what will the ending be about?

To save Dreamland, everything is leading up to the final showdown with Dagmar and Satan. Even though our main group of characters is split up right now, we can only imagine that Bean will bring them all back together and lead the charge in the final battle. Bean, Luci, and Elfo have made many friends over the course of the series. This means that they could call on many known faces from all over the world to help them win. It will also be very interesting to see how the big riddles are solved, like finding out who the soul in Freckles really is. We also need to find out where the elves and Sea Trgs got the mystery goo they are fighting over, as well as more about their forgotten pasts that have something to do with Dreamland. This is the official plot summary:

It all endeth here. The misadventures of hard-hitting, hard-drinking Queen Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo and her personal demon Luci culminate in an epic battle for Dreamland in the fifth and final installment of Matt Groening’s comedy fantasy series Disenchantment. To save Dreamland from Queen Dagmar’s wicked rule, Bean must vanquish her mother and outrun a prophecy that foretells she will kill someone she loves. The stakes are as high as ever as our heroes face Satan, a headless corpse, an evil stientist and most terrifying of all- their true destiny.
