Doha: On Tuesday evening, thousands of football fans flocked to the closing ceremony of the original World Cup, which came in the wake of the promotional tour that began on May 5. The closing event took place in the ‘Katara’ cultural district in the capital, Doha, where fans spent pleasant moments watching a range of interesting cultural activities and shows. The events were attended by numerous distinguished guests, including Brazilian football legend and Qatar Heritage Ambassador Cafu, who has twice won the World Cup with his country. Fans had the opportunity to take commemorative photos of the World Cup, as well as the opportunity to win tickets to the opening match of the World Cup, which brings together teams from Qatar and Ecuador. Mr. Khalid Ali Al-Mawlawi, Deputy Director General for Marketing, Communications and Tournament Experience at the Supreme Delivery and Legacy Committee, expressed his delight at the cup celebration, which saw a large turnout of fans in Qatar, with only a few months to go to the start of the World Cup in Qatar 2022. Al-Mawlawi said on the sidelines of the event: “The closing ceremony in the Cultural Village was another wonderful evening on the road to 2022. World Cup, while enthusiasm grows in Qatar and the region as we get closer to the start of the historic tournament. “He added:” We were delighted to see thousands of enthusiastic fans who came specifically to attend this grand celebration, filled with feelings of happiness and joy, with the start of the countdown to the launch of the largest sporting event, which is taking place for the first time in the Arab world and in the region ”. The closing ceremony is the culmination of a series of activities organized by the Supreme Committee on Surrender and Inheritance and coincided with the start of the 200-day countdown to the start of the Qatar 2022 World Cup on the 21st. November. The promotional tour, which began May 5-10, included a group of Qatar’s top tourist attractions, including Aspire Park, Souq Waqif, Msheireb Downtown Doha, Place Vendome, as well as the Doha Festival City. The cup was also hosted at Muhammad bin Jassim’s home, as well as being exhibited in numerous companies and institutions, including the health and education sectors.
