Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods is a 2013 Japanese martial arts animated film released in theatres on March 30, 2013. It is the 18th feature film based on the Dragon Ball series and the 14th film under the Dragon Ball Z brand. The first Dragon Ball film to be released in theatres in 17 years, the most recent being the 1996 10th Anniversary feature, and the first to employ digital ink and paint, following the first three Dragon Ball films and thirteen Dragon Ball Z films. Unlike previous Dragon Ball theatrical releases, this was a full-length production with an independent release, not part of the now-extinct Toei Anime Fair (formerly known as Toei Manga Matsuri).

What is the Release Date of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods?
Battle of Gods is the first ever Japanese movie in IMAX digital theaters. It is shown in all 16 digital theater locations across Japan. It has not, however, been confirmed in 3D. Madman Entertainment announced that it had purchased the Australian rights to the film and will exhibit it from October to December at the 2013 Japanese Film Festival in Australia. On May 30, 2014, Funimation announced that it had acquired the North American rights to the film and granted it a limited theatrical release in North America on August 5-7 and 9, 2014.:Battle of the Gods in Los Angeles on July 3. Madman premiered Funimation in a few Australian theaters on August 30, 2014. Diamond Films released the film throughout Latin America between September and October 2013. Diamond Films released Battle of Gods in Brazil on October 11, 2013, with the original Portuguese-Brazilian Dragon Ball Z dub cast. The film was released in theatres in Italy on February 1, 2014. The film was released in theatres in Spain on May 30, 2014, in Castilian, Catalan, and Basque Spanish, with the former bringing back nearly every original cast member from the Castilian Spanish Dragon Ball Z dub, and the latter two featuring a unique Catalan and Basque voice cast from Dragon Ball Kai. Pioneer Films released the film in the Philippines with English subtitles in April 2013, making it the country’s second Dragon Ball film. ABS-CBN Television Network premiered the film’s Filipino dubbing on January 4, 2015.

Beerus, the God of Destruction, is awakened from a long slumber by his servant Whis.On Earth, Bulma’s birthday party is interrupted by the arrival of Beerus. Aware of the God of Destruction’s ability, Vegeta casts his pride aside to appease him, who soon develops a curiosity about Whis to Earth’s Kitchen. Using the Dragon Balls, he summons Shenron, and the Eternal Dragon reveals that they need the strength of six pure-hearted Saiyans for one of them to come into shape. With the power of himself, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and Videl’s unborn child channeling their energy together, Goku rises to the level of a Super Saiyan God. He confronts Beerus, and they have an intense battle.
The form allows Goku to resist Beerus but returns to his regular Super Saiyan form due to the apparent time limit. However, he gains a feel-like shape that allows him to retain some strength in his fight against Beerus, who eventually decides to use a massive energy attack to put Goku to the test. Goku struggles to stop the energy field, but after regretting the possible deaths of his loved ones, he can absorb the attack and briefly transform into a Super Saiyan God once again. However, Goku is overcome and, at Beerus’ urging, ultimately confesses defeat. He recognizes Goku’s efforts and explains that, after Whis, he was the second strongest fighter. He is also a martial arts master far stronger than him. Goku also discovers that other worlds have additional Gods of Destruction. He and Whis bid their goodbyes before departing for their original world.
Is Dragon Ball Super the same as Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods?
Beerus and Whis appear in the 2015 film Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F,’ which is a sequel to Battle of Gods. The first narrative in Dragon Ball Super retells the Battle of Gods themes.
