What is The Plot of Dragon Ball Z: Broly – Second Coming?
Broly awakens from a space capsule that fell on Earth after escaping the comet that destroyed New Vegeta. Seven years later, Goten, Videl, and Trunks search for the mythical Dragon Balls when they come upon a community frightened by a rumored monster and a questionable shaman. To pacify it, he asks for human sacrifice. They hatch a strategy to save the community by luring the beast. Goten and Trunks draw out and kill the beast, which is revealed to be a dinosaur. The party travels to resume their Dragon Ball search now that the hamlet is secure and the shaman has been exiled.
Goten’s cries, unknown to them, awaken Broly. As night comes, the gang collects six of the seven Dragon Balls when a thunderous eruption happens, prompting Videl to investigate. She quickly encounters Broly and confronts him, but he easily defeats her. When Goten and Trunks come, she is knocked out. They fight Broly, but they are no match for the monster and run in terror. Gohan protects them as they seek to collect the Dragon Balls to send Broly away. Broly, who throws a deadly sphere of energy on Videl, Trunks, and Goten, is no match for Gohan.
Nonetheless, the resulting explosion knocks them all out. To combat Broly, Gohan changes into his Super Saiyan form, while Broly transforms into his Legendary Super Saiyan form. Gohan successfully draws Broly into a lava hole, where he is consumed. Gohan collapses from weariness and is saved by Krillin. After incapacitating Krillin, Broly reappears and assaults Gohan. Gohan feels helpless as Broly’s bear grip crushes him until Videl comes and attempts desperately to intercede. Encouraged by Videl’s efforts, Gohan breaks free from Broly’s hold and unleashes a Kamehameha wave at him. The Legendary Super Saiyan launches a massive energy sphere towards Gohan, colliding with the Kamehameha. Goten joins his brother in the battle for energy, but Broly’s sphere absorbs their waves and draws them closer.
Goten wishes their father was around to assist them. As the sky darkens, the Dragon Balls grant his desperate wish. To their surprise and Broly’s consternation, Goku appears. Goku joins his sons in a Kamehameha wave. Still, their combined effort is unsuccessful since Broly continues to resist until he is distracted by Trunks, who fires a blast at him. The Super Saiyan family delivers the last blow, propelling the Kamehameha wave into space, where he dies when he collides with the sun. Gohan and Goten wonder if their father was always around them. They are soon joined by Trunks, Krillin, and Videl in celebrating their win.
Was Goku there in Broly’s Second Coming?
Goku was most likely not there. Some people think Goku was there because Broly just happened to say his name when he turned SSJ. They also state Goku was physically there because Goten wished for Goku to be there, and the dragon balls dispersed after Broly was defeated.
