“The reopening of the doors of the Danish embassy today is a strong gesture that symbolizes support for Ukraine and its people,” said the minister. in a statement released by his ministry.

The embassy was temporarily closed due to the security situation, and diplomats left after establishing a temporary representation in Lviv, western Ukraine, Copenhagen announced on February 24.

The visit of the Danish minister had not been announced in advance, and came after the visit of other Western political figures.

On April 21, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen visited Kiev, in coincidence with the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. He announced further military aid to Ukraine of 600 million crowns (80.6 million euros), bringing the total of this assistance to one billion crowns.
