Dutch police arrest couple trying to escape quarantine for Spain

AMSTERDAM, Nov 28 (Reuters) – Dutch military police said: on Sunday they arrested a married couple who left a hotel where they were in quarantine after positive test for COVID-19, and tried to flee the country.

They have been arrested”in a plane that was about to take off,” the Marechausse police said in a statement.

It was unclear of they had tested positive for the new Omicron coronavirus variant.

The Amsterdam newspaper Het Parool reported that the couple, a Spanish man and a Portuguese woman, were trying to fly to Spain.
