Dwyane Wade talks about her son’s transition to a daughter

Dwyane Wade couldn’t care less about the public’s opinion on how he raises his children. However, as a public figure, he understands that he has the platform to talk about pressing issues and that he can really make a change.

Zion Wade has had several shots this year. First, for attending the Miami Pride Parade and, more recently, for sporting a crop top and false nails on a family photo.

Gabrielle Union has been very vocal when it comes to defending her stepson from enemies and Dwyane has already explained to others that they support Zion.

In a new episode of Showtime’s All the Smoke podcast, the athlete reveals that his son is in the early stages of the transition.

The former Miami Heat player begins by explaining how Zion was different from a young age and how he reacted.

“I had to look at myself in the mirror when my son at the time was 3 years old and my wife and I started to have conversations about us, noting that he was not in the boyish mood that the Zaire [Wade’s other son]. And I had to look in the mirror and say, “What if your son comes home and tells you he is gay? What are you going to do? How are you going to be How are you going to act? It’s not about him. He knows who he is. It’s about you. Who are you?’

Wade then continues to refer to the 12-year-old child as “she”.

“I have watched my son from day one become what he is becoming. Nothing changes my love and nothing changes my responsibility. “
