It comes after the BBC Archive account tweeted out a clip of Ruth interviewing a tractor expert for BBC’s Countryfile.

Alongside the video, they wrote: “Trainspotting may have been all the rage #onthisday in 1996, but Ruth Langsford discovered on Countryfile that tractor-spotting was really where it was at.”

In the short clip, the presenter started out by branding tractors an “irritation”, before the expert attempted to change her mind.

Approaching a cherry-red tractor, Ruth asked the expert just how he was going to change her views.

“So this is a David Brown and you’re going to convince me that tractor can be romantic, are you?” she asked the expert.

He replied: “Oh yes, farmers can make use of them for all sorts of purposes.

“This particular model came with a wide bench seat and, officially, this was to allow you to adopt different positions when you’re ploughing.”

However, the tractor enthusiast revealed that the wide seat also served another purpose.

Another added: “Ruth has hardly changed. Still looks very young.”
