Egypt condemns the tearing down of a copy of the Holy Quran in the Netherlands

Egypt has strongly condemned the tearing up of a copy of the Holy Quran by the leader of an extremist movement in the Netherlands in front of the Dutch Parliament building in The Hague, in a clear act that violates the sanctity of Muslims and fuels incitement to hatred between religions and peoples, threatening the security and stability of societies. In the statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt today expressed deep concern for the repeating episodes of blasphemy and the escalation of Islamophobia in some European countries, emphasizing the responsibility of these countries to prevent the repetition of such practices incompatible with the system of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
