Egypt .. has collected more than 700,000 acres of wheat since the beginning of April

Today, Saturday, an official from the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture said that since the beginning of the harvest season on April 1, more than 700,000 local wheat feddan has been harvested.

Last month, Egyptian finance minister Mohamed Maait said that Egyptian pounds 1.1 billion ($ 59.69 million) was set aside as an advance for the purchase of local grain from farmers.

Egypt, one of the world’s largest wheat importers, relies heavily on shipments from Ukraine and Russia, and its government is looking for alternative supplies from countries like India and France.

Abbas El-Shennawy, head of the service sector at the Ministry of Agriculture, said Egypt aims to plant 1.075 million feddan of rice during the year. in course 2022-2023, which will contribute to achieving self-sufficiency.
