Egypt is looking to plant 3.5 million acres of wheat in 2021-2022

A senior Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture official, Abbas El-Shennawy, said on Thursday that Egypt hopes to plant 3.5 million feddan of wheat in the 2021-2022 season to produce at least nine million tons of wheat. .

He added that the government is trying to increase local grain purchases to 4 million tons from 3.4-3.7 million tons.

L’area cultivation of the target wheat has not changed since last year. The wheat planting season begins in mid-November.

The Egyptian Ministry of Supply said the country had purchased a total of 3.6 million tons of local wheat during the harvest season of quest’year.

The ministry said in an earlier statement that grain harvesting sites received 3.5 million tons from farmers, in addition to the 165,000 tons that were delivered to pasta factories.
