Egypt reacted to the news about the suspension of the Dabaa nuclear project

Monitoring a report issued by the Egyptian Council of Ministers in response to public opinion questions about the state of the Egyptian economy and the truth about the allegations of stopping the Dabaa nuclear power plant project in Egypt.

The report states that the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy denied allegations of stopping the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project in Egypt, stressing that the suspension of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project in Egypt is untrue, stressing that the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project will continue as usual nonstop.

The report indicated that the Egyptian Nuclear Power Authority announced on November 19, 2022, the start of the main phase of construction of the second unit of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant in Egypt, in order to begin the first concrete pouring work for the second unit of the nuclear power plant. Although the report indicates that Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, had earlier announced that the Egyptian-Russian team was demonstrating the highest level of professional excellence and achieving the major achievements of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project well before the date indicated, and that the first concrete pouring for the second unit of the Dabaa NPP, the NPP in Egypt coincides with the date of signing of the government agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Russian Federation, which is the driving force for the Dabaa NPP project.

The report traces the statement of the CEO of the Russian company Rosatom, Dr. Alexei Likhachev, that the Dabaa NPP project, which is being jointly worked on by Russian and Egyptian teams, will have an important impact not only on Egypt. from a social and economic point of view, but will also contribute to the gradual transition of Egypt to low-carbon energy sources, creating a solid foundation for the reliable and sustainable development of Egypt for decades to come.
