Majid Moussa, director general of customs at Cairo International Airport, has revealed the amount of gold and dollars allowed to be brought in through airports to keep the passenger from falling under the law.

The Director General of Customs at Cairo International Airport confirmed that the law gives passengers, whether Egyptians or foreigners, surcharges of US$10,000 or its currency equivalent, as legal as financing terrorism.

He added that customs does not confiscate anything, but keeps it in deposits at the airport until the competent authorities make a decision and pay a conciliatory cost, continuing: “Customs does not object to women who wear gold for personal use, but suspicion arises if the amount is not commensurate with the social status” of a female passenger or the presence of an amount of gold exceeding the limits for personal use in an exaggerated form.
