Osama Rabieh, head of the Egyptian Authority of the Suez Canal, revealed the details of his meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, explaining that more than one ax was discussed, including the speed of navigation through the canal last year.

Lieutenant General Rabi said in a telephone interview with the media Azza Mustafa on the Tahrir Hall program, which is broadcast today, Saturday, on the Echo al-Balad channel, that the highest profit in the history of the channel was achieved. last year, reaching $7 billion, up from $5.8 billion the previous year.

Lieutenant General Ousama Rabieh, head of the Suez Canal Authority, added that the number of vessels exceeded 22,000, up 16% from the previous year, citing the confidence in the Suez Canal and its ability to handle all difficult situations. .

He emphasized that there are both positive and negative sides to the Russian-Ukrainian war on the Suez Canal, explaining that the negative consequences are to reduce the speed of passage of tankers with grain and oil, moving from the two conflicting countries to the countries of East Asia. And he added: “The positive consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war were expressed in the replacement of oil sources intended for Europe with the exit from the Persian Gulf instead of Russia, and this percentage compensated for the deficit and even exceeded this volume.”

He added that the scenarios were prepared to take into account international situations and developments, pointing out that there is a new generation of vessels characterized by increased tonnage, and that the length, width and draft of ships to combat them are important for channel management on new vessels.
