Electronic Arts Announces Development of Black Panther Game

Electronic Arts has exciting news for fans of Black Panther, as they have announced that a game based on the popular superhero is currently in development. The game is being created by Cliffhanger Games, an internal studio established by EA in 2021.

Leading the studio is Kevin Stephens, who previously served as the head of Warner’s Monolith during the development of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Joining him are talented individuals from renowned franchises such as Halo, God of War, and Call of Duty.

This original Black Panther game will be a third-person, single-player experience, developed in collaboration with Marvel Games. The goal of the game is to allow players to fully immerse themselves in the role of Black Panther, through unique, story-driven gameplay.

“At Cliffhanger Games, our aim is to bring the Black Panther world to life in a way that makes players feel truly worthy of the mantle,” said Stephens. “We are still in the early stages of development, but we believe that assembling a diverse and experienced team is the key to creating an amazing game for such an important superhero.”

Last year, EA announced a partnership with Marvel to produce multiple games based on their popular characters, starting with an Iron Man title from Motive Studios, known for their work on the Dead Space remake and Star Wars Squadrons.

“Our commitment to fans is to provide an authentic and immersive Black Panther experience, unlike any other story-driven video game,” Stephens added. “Wakanda is an incredible superhero sandbox, and our mission is to deliver an epic world that allows players to explore it to the fullest.”

Rumors about Cliffhanger’s Black Panther game first surfaced last summer, suggesting that it will be a large open-world game where players assume the role of the new Black Panther following the previous one’s demise.
