Did Mark Wright Cross the Line with His Recent Post?

In an incredibly tone-deaf moment, Mark Wright found himself on the receiving end of public backlash after sharing a seemingly lighthearted Instagram post on the same day as a tragic Air India plane crash that claimed hundreds of lives. The former TOWIE star, 38, was criticized for posting a photo of himself with wife Michelle Keegan and their baby, Palma, beside a private jet, joking about flying economy with a caption that read “1 day babe, for now we’ll take row 26 with no extra leg room.”

This insensitive timing sparked outrage among his followers, who quickly pointed out the inappropriateness of his post. One user remarked, “Prob not the best day to post this when so many people lost their lives on a plane.” Another hit the nail on the head with, “Not really appropriate to put this up after today’s plane crash,” while a third added simply, “What a time to choose to post this.”

In the face of mounting criticism, Mark swiftly deleted the post and took to Instagram to issue a public apology. He explained that the post had been scheduled in advance and was meant to go out on a future date. In a heartfelt statement, he expressed, “I apologise for a post I just put up on my page after today’s heartbreaking events. I have posts from a holiday that are on the scheduled setting, which go out on future days I have set them for which was done last week. It’s a horrendous coincidence that today’s post was on such a devastating day.”

The emotional weight of his statement didn’t go unnoticed. “Once I logged in to my Instagram and realised the post had gone out, I immediately deleted. My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected from today. I’m sorry for this mistake and any offence caused.”

The tragedy unfolded earlier on June 12 when an Air India flight bound for London Gatwick burst into flames shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad, carrying 242 people on board, including 53 British nationals. Shocking footage later revealed a British man walking away from the burning wreckage, having miraculously survived by jumping from the aircraft. Emergency crews continue to comb through the debris, with 204 bodies recovered so far.

Flightradar data indicated that the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner lost contact just seconds after take-off, its final signal recorded at 1:38 PM local time—less than a minute into the flight. Following the tragedy, King Charles III shared his condolences on social media, stating, “My wife and I have been desperately shocked by the terrible events in Ahmedabad this morning.” He described it as a “heartbreaking and traumatic time” and extended “prayers and deepest possible sympathies” to all those affected.
