Iggy Pop Stuns Fans with Coffin Exit in London Concert

Rock legend Iggy Pop made headlines at a London concert this past Friday, delivering a memorable exit that fans will not soon forget. After his high-energy performance at Alexandra Palace, part of his revered Lust For Life tour, the 78-year-old icon took a plunge into the bizarre.

As the crowd cheered, Iggy was wheeled off stage in a jet black coffin, adorned with metallic studs. The inside of the coffin was lined with luxurious royal red fabric, providing a dramatic backdrop as the shirtless star leaned back, making himself comfortable. To the amusement of the audience, his hand waved goodbye, peeking from beneath the lid.

In the aftermath, Iggy shared a video of his coffin escapade on social media, along with a cheeky messag”London was a hoot! How you exit is equally important to how you enter.” While many fans reveled in the unconventional farewell, others were left uneasy. One viewer expressed concern, saying, “I hope nothing happens anytime soon. What you do, sometimes comes back on you.”

Yet, a wave of enthusiasm flooded in from others. “Truly great gig. Come back soon,” one fan gushed. Another fan declared, “Only Iggy … may he long reign,” while yet another added, “Fantastic! You are Master!” The energy was palpable, with the crowd still buzzing over his mischievous charm.

The iconic entertainer kicked off the gig with a fiery performance of the Stooges’ classic “TV Eye,” tearing through a setlist packed with 20 tracks. He closed the night with a rousing performance of “Funtime,” following a cover of The Dee Jays’ “Real Wild Child.”

Iggy—whose real name is James Osterberg Jr.—has become famous for his shirtless antics throughout his recent UK shows. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 as a member of the Stooges, he continues to captivate fans worldwide.

His illustrious career boasts multiple Grammy nominations, including for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for “Cold Metal” and Best Alternative Music Album for “Post Pop Depression.” In 2020, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Grammy, solidifying his legendary status in rock history.
