Kirstie Allsopp’s Bold Move to Buy a Bahamas Holiday Home

In a heartfelt moment that captured the attention of her followers, TV star Kirstie Allsopp shared her journey of purchasing a holiday home in the Bahamas just three months after her mother’s passing. Best known for co-hosting Channel 4’s hit show, Location, Location, Location, with Phil Spencer, Kirstie unveiled her emotional reasons for investing in this idyllic retreat.

Kirstie’s poignant Instagram posts from last year showcased not only the breathtaking views of Harbour Island but also the personal significance behind her decision. She recounted, “In March 2014, three months after my mum died, I came to stay with a friend on Harbour Island, in the Bahamas. I knew nothing about the place, it was my first big trip with the boys but no Ben, and they were five and seven.”

Her whirlwind decision took just days; “Within three days, I had made an appointment to see a ‘real estate agent.’ I know the lingo now, and I spent nearly all the money I’d saved from making Locations on a house here. I never regretted it for a moment,” she shared. The star emphasized the beauty of the location, saying, “If you’ve ever been lucky enough to come to the spot Tim Peak called ‘the most beautiful place on earth from space,’ you will know that the sea is incredible, and for someone who loves to swim, it is sheer bliss.”

Her heartfelt connection extended beyond just the purchase; she noted the joy it brought her family. “My children and stepchildren now have an amazing life here and many, many friends.” In a candid revelation, she remarked, “No one watches my shows or knows anything about my work, I’m just another middle aged mum.”

Kirstie’s openness resonated with her followers, many of whom expressed their admiration and support. One follower cheekily commented, “When you say share, do you mean for us to book a flight and just arrive? #justasking…” Others noted the beauty of finding solace after loss, with one commenter stating, “finding your place after losing your mum is a wonderful thing.” Kirstie replied to that sentiment, sharing, “My mum would have loved this place so much. I did get my dad here and he painted it, and loved it.”

An intriguing question from a fan about her preference between the Bahamas and Switzerland led Kirstie to reflect on the future. “Often asked that. In the end, it will come down to where the kids can reach us and hopefully grandchildren, but it will also depend on work, as I never plan to retire.”
