Nick Knowles’ wife, Katie, just opened up about a life-changing experience that has captured the hearts of many. The lingerie business owner bravely revealed she underwent a hysterectomy at just 35 years old after enduring years of excruciating pain. Sharing her story on Instagram on July 11, she provided a raw glimpse into her struggles.
The candid post showcased a snapshot of Katie in a hospital gown, exposing the terrifying reality she facea daily battle with chronic pain that left her often “vomiting, curled up in bed, and missing out on life.” In her words, “I’m 35 and I’ve just had a hysterectomy.”
For years, Katie endured the overwhelming effects of Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, and adenomyosis. She recounted relentless hospital visits, countless laparoscopies, and the humiliation of bleeding through clothes in public. “The migraines, constant bloating—it was a horror show,” she expressed. It ravaged her daily life and, shockingly, even instilled fear in her daughters about their own menstrual cycles.
Yet, what resonated most was her acknowledgment of being repeatedly misdiagnosed. Katie recounted her experience of being dismissed by doctors and told to simply “take painkillers.” But this wasn’t just a “bad period.” This was a life that felt broken. “I’ve had three surgeries. I’ve tried every pill, every patch, every hormone tweak. I’ve been put on a medical menopause just to get through uni. And still…the pain came.”
Recently married to the DIY SOS star, Katie reflected on the emotional scars left behind. The decision to have the hysterectomy stemmed from a desire to reclaim her life. Although she was feeling less like a woman post-operation, she saw this as a transformative step toward healing.
“Right now, I’m in lots of pain. I’m bloated. I’m exhausted. I’m hot. I’m forgetful. I feel raw and less like myself,” she confessed. Yet she emphasized that this was a choice made in pursuit of living authentically. “This is hopefully the beginning of healing—self-love, scars, stitches, and all.”
In her heartfelt post, she provided a gentle reminde“If you’re tempted to leave a judgmental or flippant comment, I’m asking you to just scroll on. There is a real person behind this post.” A plea that echoed in the hearts of many, as Katie’s vulnerability has sparked conversations about the often-taboo topics surrounding women’s health and the need for more compassionate understanding within medical communities.
