Fans are heartbroken as Sir Rod Stewart reveals he’s “devastated” over the cancellation of six more shows due to illness. This includes four in Las Vegas and two in California, bringing his total cancellations to eight performances. As the 80-year-old icon recuperates from flu, many are left wondering how this will impact his upcoming appearance at the Glastonbury Festival on June 29, where he’s set to take the Legends slot.
On June 5, Stewart took to Instagram to share the unfortunate news, stating, “I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu. So sorry my friends. I’m devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon.” While he provided new dates for his California shows, the Las Vegas performances remain unscheduled.
The flu typically lasts a few days to two weeks, but it can spell serious trouble for older individuals like Stewart, who may face complications such as sinus infections or pneumonia. If his symptoms linger or escalate, it could jeopardize his performance at one of the summer’s most anticipated music festivals.
This isn’t the first time Rod has had to reschedule. Just days before his cancellation notice, on June 2, he shifted another concert date to June 10. He conveyed to fans, “I am sorry to inform you that I’m not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled.â€Â
International fans like one from Germany also echoed their frustrations. “I traveled all the way from Germany to see Rod Stewart live – it was the highlight of my entire trip,” they shared. “Of course, the most important thing is that he recovers soon, but the extremely short notice of the cancellation left me in a tricky situation. If there were concerns beforehand, it would have been fair to cancel earlier, allowing me to adjust my plans.” This sentiment of disheartenment resonates with so many who plan their lives around these performances.
