Kylie Kelce recently revealed a hilarious fib her husband, former NFL star Jason Kelce, has been telling their three daughters. On the July 17 episode of her podcast, Not Gonna Lie, Kylie shared that Jason has been pulling out all the stops to avoid getting a cat.
According to Kylie, Jason has been spinning a yarn about how cats are poisonous, hoping to dissuade their daughters—Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, and Bennett, 2—from wanting one. “I have a constant battle with my husband about when we can finally get a cat,” Kylie confessed to her guest, actress Mandy Moore. “He doesn’t care for cats and has told our kids they are poisonous.” Moore was taken aback, prompting Kylie to reveal this curious side of Jason.
Kylie went on to clarify that Jason actually had a beloved cat during his childhood, one that was quite the accrobat. “Yes, to be clear, he had a cat growing up that he loved very much. She was badass and would catch birds in mid-air,” Kylie recounted. This makes Jason’s current stance all the more ironic, considering the childhood bond he once had with a feline.
As they welcomed their fourth child, Finnley, in April 2025, Kylie is determined to add a cat to their family mix. “Regardless, we’ll get a cat. We have a whole plan,” she insisted during the episode, showing she’s not backing down easily.
In a September 2024 episode of their podcast, New Heights, Jason hilariously admitted to telling his kids that cats are toxic. “You know what my latest plan to divert our family from getting a cat is? I just keep telling our girls that cats are poisonous,” he chuckled.
While Kylie has reassured their daughters that cats aren’t actually harmful, Jason remains committed to the fib, stating he simply doesn’t want another pet disrupting their home. “Our dogs have already ruined the furniture,” he lamented with a laugh.
He even took it up a notch, elaborating, “I mean, they can kill you… and they don’t even have to bite you. Just them licking you.” However, the former Eagles player did concede that he could be okay with a cat—as long as it lives outside.
