Karate Kid: Legends has already claimed its place in cinematic history with a phenomenal box office performance, reaching yet another significant milestone. The film marks the fifth entry in the storied franchise, featuring Ben Wang as Li Fong, Jackie Chan reprising his iconic role as Mr. Han, and Ralph Macchio returning as the legendary Daniel LaRusso. This sequel serves as a bridge between the previous films and the popular Cobra Kai TV series, which recently concluded its impactful run on Netflix. Although it took 15 long years for a follow-up to 2010’s The Karate Kid, the latest installment has been thriving at theaters.
According to a report by Variety, Legends continues to soar in its highest-grossing charts. The sequel is on the verge of surpassing $35 million at the domestic box office, despite fierce competition from other releases. With a projected weekend total of $8.7 million, it is only $2-3 million shy of taking the crown from The Karate Kid Part III, thus potentially becoming the fourth-highest-grossing film in franchise history.
