Tim Burton Set to Launch Exciting New Animated Project

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice director Tim Burton has hinted at an exciting new venture following the spectacular success of his recent sequel. Set 36 years after the original Beetlejuice from 1988, this long-awaited follow-up grossed an impressive $451.9 million worldwide, soaring past its $99 million budget.

Despite the lengthy wait, plans for Beetlejuice 3 are already underway. In April, Warner Bros. Pictures CEO Michael De Luca announced that development on a third film is expected to start soon.

However, in a recent interview with Milenio, Burton suggested that his next endeavor will likely see a return to animation. Known for classics like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, and Frankenweenie, he expressed enthusiasm about his upcoming project. “I am working on something that’s an animated project, yes. So hopefully I’ll have a script soon and then I’ll take it from there. But it’s something I’m very excited about,” he shared.

The Director’s Priorities

Despite the studio’s eagerness to push forward with Beetlejuice 3, Burton’s comments suggest he has other interests at the moment. Alongside the animated project, the director is also connected to a remake of the 1958 classic Attack of the Fifty-Foot Woman, although he has played down the significance of that announcement.

Nevertheless, fans of Burton’s work are likely eager to witness his return to animation, a medium that marks his artistic beginnings. An advocate for traditional stop-motion techniques, it is anticipated that his new project will steer clear of the prevalent computer-generated imagery found in many current animated films.

The timeline for Beetlejuice 3 remains uncertain. However, Warner Bros. will undoubtedly aim to keep Burton focused on the threequel, as neither the studio nor audiences are keen on waiting another 36 years for a sequel.

Anticipating Tim Burton’s Latest Animated Adventure

Don’t Expect The Nightmare Before Christmas 2

Although any new animated project from Burton naturally sparks speculation about a potential The Nightmare Before Christmas sequel, it seems unlikely that this is the film he’s currently focused on. He has previously indicated that the original film is a “one-off” and displays no interest in revisiting his most famous animated work.

However, it is nearly guaranteed that his upcoming animation will feature the distinct, imaginative style he’s celebrated for. Even if it’s not the anticipated follow-up to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, there’s plenty of excitement to be had regarding what this beloved filmmaker is conjuring up next. For fans eager for more from the quirky and artistic mind of Burton, the future looks intriguing.
