Prince Fans Can Expect Exciting New Album Releases Soon

It’s been nearly a decade since the world lost the iconic Prince, but the excitement is palpable as new developments unfold from his estate. Fans gathered during a vibrant Pride celebration in Minneapolis on Saturday, June 7, where Londell McMillan of Prince Legacy LLC announced compelling news: a new album is on the way!

According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, a boxed set edition of Around the World in a Day, featuring beloved tracks like “Raspberry Beret” and “Pop Life,” will soon be available for fans to enjoy.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. McMillan shared that vinyl editions of Prince’s final two albums, the 2015 releases Hit n Run Phase One and Hit n Run Phase Two, are currently being prepared. It’s a thrilling time for followers of the legendary artist, especially with the recent drop of a fresh acoustic version of “Free,” from the 1982 classic, 1999.

Unveiling his vision for the estate’s future, McMillan hinted that 2026 will bring even more nostalgia with something special from Parade, Prince’s celebrated 1986 album that boasts the chart-topping hit “Kiss.”

Challenges in the Vault

While these re-releases spark joy, the journey has not been without its challenges. McMillan acknowledged that lingering legal issues with record labels and rights holders have significantly delayed efforts to sort through Prince’s extensive vault of material. It’s shocking to learn that only about 45% of his treasure trove has been digitized.

As fans eagerly anticipate these new releases, McMillan calls for patience. He emphasizes the importance of doing things properly, stressing that rushing releases could tarnish Prince’s revered legacy. “Pushing too fast will result in releases which are not optimized for Prince’s best legacy,” he cautioned. “There were six years before we became involved. We are not genies!”

With no official release date confirmed yet, excitement remains high as fans hold their breath for the boxed set to hit shelves sometime this year. The legacy of Prince continues to thrive, proving that even in passing, the Purple One’s spirit is very much alive.
