Etihad Airways could cancel billions of orders from Airbus and Boeing

The CEO of “Etihad Airways” in Abu Dhabi said on Wednesday that the company could cancel orders for the purchase of billions of dollars of aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, attributing this to uncertainty over delivery dates and the recovery of the sector from the impact of the pandemic.

“Manufacturers can’t confirm delivery dates and you have a market in you don’t know when they’ll recover, “said Tony Douglas of the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 777X the airline ordered nearly a decade ago.

Etihad Airways will continue to take in delivers Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which Douglas says will become the backbone of a fleet that will shrink to 65 aircraft.
