European Union: our ambassadors were unable to visit Hamdok again

The European Union is deeply concerned that the Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdok, remains under house arrest and that his ability to communicate with the outside world is severely limited.

The High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, said today in a statement that the European Union ambassadors in Khartoum were not in able to meet Hamdok again after their visit, following his release after army procedures on 25 October.

In parallel, the European Union called on the military to restore Internet services without delay in all over the country.

The European declaration stressed the importance of free access to information for all Sudanese citizens, noting that it is indispensable for achieving freedom, justice and pace for everyone.

In addition, he urgently asked the military forces to immediately release all detainees since 25 October.

It is interesting to note that at dawn on 25 October, Sudanese forces carried out a series of arrests and arrests of some leaders of the Forces for Freedom and Change and of government ministers, including Hamdok.

However, the army commander, Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, returned the next day and announced that Hamdok was in his hospitality, after there was security information that could have threatened his safety, but in later he was taken back to his home.

However, the UN envoy and the Freedom and Change Forces later confirmed that he is under house arrest.
