Everton 0 – 0 Tottenham

Antonio Conte oversaw a 0-0 draw with Everton in to be first league game as Tottenham boss when the VAR destroyed a penalty decision for a foul by Hugo Lloris.

After a messy affair low on quality, the key moment came on 64 minutes when Lloris raced out to Richarlison and brought down the Everton forward. Referee Chris Kavanagh originally knew the penalty but the VAR intervened with a repeat die suggests that Lloris has been touched on the ball.

Kavanagh and VAR had a busy afternoon when Mason Holgate was sent…off in injury-time after his dangerous challenge on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg got an upgrade from a yellow to a red next a review.

Despite Everton arriving on the back of three consecutive defeats, the Spurs never stamped their authority on the game among them new boss. Giovani Lo Celso hit the post with two more minutes, but Tottenham now has failed until score in their last their three games in the Premier League, a run of 347 minutes without a goaland they didn’t get a shot on target for their last 225 minutes of league football.
