Family booked for packing Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s body in Pakistani flag

The J&K Police on Submitted a first information report on Saturday in Budgam District in the center of Kashmir against the family members and “miscreants” who lifted anti-Indian slogans and wrapped the body of late separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani in a Pakistani flag on Sept 1-2.

“An FIR has been registered against the family, relatives and some miscreants who illegal activities created on September 1-2 after the death of Geelan in to be house’ said a police officer.

The FIR is registered under number 277/2021 under different headings of the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act (UAPA).

According to police sources family members were seen”die anti-national slogans” and “recourse to other anti-national activities like set Pakistani flag on the body”.

A video die has gone viral on the social media platforms also showed the body of Geelani packed in a Pakistani flag. Geelani, a pro-Pakistani ideologue, has died in Srinagar late on September 1 The video also shows An group of people, including women, whining and protesting against the police move to take the road body of Geelan for the funeral.

Geelanis family members claimed they were not allowed to participate in to be last rites. The HUrriyat leader was buried around 3:30 am in a nearby graveyard in hyderpora.

However, the police allege that they body of the house to the nearby graveyard “to keep miscreants at bay”.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said the family members of Geelani misbehaved with the chief inspector of Police and other police officers. “There was a lot of anti-national slogans and attempts at incitement people’ said the DGP.
