Well, there are probably two ways in which this happens. Either you own the fantasy championship game owned by Christian McCaffrey, or you play against it and they will be rooting too hard against the Panthers in Week 16. If in some way the fantastic league title game happens without McCaffrey, shame on McCaffrey. Of course he is at the top of our RB fantasy rankings for Week 16 and is likely to have a regular big game.
Now, if you go up against McCaffrey, you can’t afford to soften your options back. You might be disappointed that you did Joe Mixon in Week 15 against the Patriots, but somehow Cincinnati brought him into the room. This week against Miami, Mixon will have to take another steady outing, and if you’ve somehow managed to compose and make it that far, it’s time to trust him one last time.
The point of concern this week is Todd Gurley. Against the 49ers, you can’t feel terrible for Gurley. The same concern exists for Devin Singletary against the Pats. Both are talented enough, involved in the passage of the game enough and will see plenty of touches that they can still play as RB2, but it’s okay to be careful.
If you have Josh Jacobs, watch him. Despite being activated for Week 15, he has a shoulder injury that could still lead to his restraint. It would not be a bad idea to guess with DeAndre Washington if it is still possible. The same is true of James Conner, who can become a finisher at some point as he plays with a shoulder injury. Dalvin Cook (chest / shoulder) is also “questionable” this week, and with Alexander Mattison (ankle) missing last week, it could be Mike Boone who will enjoy a big matchup with the Packers.
The last thing you should definitely know is the possible return of Kerryon Johnson (knee) from IR. The Broncos matchup is not great, but if it looks like Johnson will see 12-15 touches, it’s worth grabbing and possibly using as your FLEX.
Reminder: As always, we expect to make many changes to these rankings throughout the week, so check back for updates.
