Final The Witcher Trailer focuses on Ciri, one of the main characters
The final trailer of Netflix’s The Witcher features Ciri, one of the most important characters in the series. The trailer also shows a massive battle between two armies, which are by far the biggest conflict scene Netflix has ever seen from the series.
The trailer is opened by showing the Kingdom of Cintra, Ciri’s homeland, just as it is being attacked by the Nilfgaard kingdom. The trailer does not reveal the reasons for the conflict, but it lets us know that Ciri is at the center of the conflict and that she needs the help of our dear sorcerer, Geralt of Rivia, to survive. Shortly before a seemingly massive battle with thousands of soldiers on both sides, Ciri escapes the castle in search of Geralt.
When Polygon went to the set of The Witcher, showrunner Lauren Hissrich was convinced that the series would take more from the books than the video games from CD Project Red. This trailer gives us our clearest indication of which story the series – which Hissrich has planned for at least seven seasons – could follow. While the first two Witcher books are full of short stories about Geralt’s monster-hunting exploits, the rest of the series is more linear and contains Ciri. Based on the trailer itself, it seems that the Netflix series comes from the third book, Blood of the Elves, at least for the Ciri scenes that have been shown so far.
The Witcher will debut on Netflix on December 20th.
