Former French national team manager Raymond Demonique has criticized Lyon player Hossam Aouar for his recent comments about representing the Algerian national team instead of France. Aouar, who recently announced his decision to play for Algeria, made controversial statements about regretting his decision to play for France and his desire to achieve results with Algeria. Demonique called these comments unacceptable and insulting to Algeria. He also accused Aouar of hypocrisy for trying to improve his image after realizing he could no longer play for France. Demonique questioned Aouar’s capabilities as a player and cited his recent drop in performance as a reason for being left out of the Lyon lineup. Aouar is set to represent Algeria in upcoming matches against Niger in the 2023 African Nations Championship qualifiers.
