Former Polish official: We will have problems heating our houses because of government recklessness

Former Polish Economy Minister Janusz Stechow said that next winter in Poland there will be problems with heating houses due to a ban on the supply of Russian coal.

In an interview with Wirtualna Polska, he said: “The decision to impose a ban on the supply of Russian gas was made at one moment recklessly and thoughtlessly.”

He believed that Warsaw’s decision would make sense if it was accepted by all EU countries.

He added: “These countries have also decided to ban the import of Russian coal, but the ban will come into force on August 15th. We accepted it at once and paid the Polish coal businessmen big losses. of course, who uses coal. for heating houses too.

Earlier, Poland announced a complete ban on the supply of Russian coal, which seriously affected the volume and price of coal on the market.

The price of a ton of coal from private suppliers is currently about $640. For this reason, the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment has canceled all requirements for the quality of coal used for heating for 60 days. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that in the near future, Polish consumers will face problems due to a shortage of coal.
