Former President Donald Trump Faces New Charges for Withholding Classified Documents: Chris Christie

New Charges Against Donald Trump Solidify Case, Says Chris Christie

Fellow Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie believes that the new charges brought against former President Donald Trump, who is also the Republican nominee front-runner, strengthen the case against him.

In an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union,” Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, stated that the recent charges, part of a case regarding Trump’s alleged withholding of classified documents after leaving the White House, add to the already substantial evidence against him. Trump has been indicted on federal charges related to his alleged attempt to discount verified votes during the 2020 presidential election.

“It’s a pretty brazen act,” Christie remarked. “These individuals were behaving like the Corleones without any prior experience.”

The charges accuse Trump of willingly withholding classified documents from the federal government and deleting video footage from his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida last year.

“You cannot deny the existence of an underlying potential crime here,” Christie said. “Donald Trump withheld confidential classified information from the government even after they requested its return for 18 months.”

Trump’s lawyer, John Lauro, suggested that former Vice President Mike Pence could serve as a crucial witness in the case involving allegations of attempts to overturn the 2020 election. However, Pence has not yet been formally subpoenaed.
