Fortnite falls an hour before its Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker event (update)

It seems that Fortnite’s servers went down less than an hour before the world premiere of a Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker clip.

Downdetector.com will list Fortnite as a problem report from 1 p.m. EUROPEAN SUMMER TIME. Social media is in full swing with news that people have trouble logging in across the board.

Fortnite’s official server status Twitter account confirmed the issues at 1:30 p.m.

We are investigating problems with login services. During this time, problems may arise when you try to sign in or make purchases.

We will provide an update as soon as we have more information. Thanks for your patience.

We contacted an Epic Games representative to find out what was happening and to get more information. Sit down.

The doors of Risky Reels, Fortnites In-World-Drive-In, should open at 1:30 p.m. to show a clip from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that will hit theaters on December 20. Director J.J. Abrams will participate in the screening as part of a teaser for The Game Awards 2019 on Thursday evening.

Loot is also announced at this event. Each participant receives a free TIE fighter. There are also a few Star Wars skins on sale in the in-game marketplace.

To update: Some people can now access the game, and an in-world message from The Game Awards presenter Geoff Keighley confirmed that the large numbers trying to log into the game were causing difficulties. The clip premiere was delayed by 10 minutes so that everyone can register.

The Fortnite X Star Wars event is expected to begin at 2:10 ET
