France goalkeeper Lloris announces his retirement from the national team

PARIS: Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, captain of France’s 2018 World Cup-winning squad, announced on Monday his international retirement at the age of 36. “Come a moment in which you have to hand over to a new generation,” said Lloris in an interview with the French sports newspaper L’Equipe. “I have said over and over that the French national team will not stand on just one player. We all have to make sure it continues to shine and I’ll start with myself. “The team is in able to complete the march and goalkeeper Mike Maenan is also there in full readiness.” (Reuters)
