Capcom and AVI-8 collaborate to release special edition watches based on arcade game 1942
Capcom, in collaboration with watch manufacturer AVI-8, has released a pair of special edition watches inspired by the popular arcade game 1942.
About the Game
Originally released in 1984, 1942 was a highly popular vertical scrolling shoot ’em up game in the arcade genre.
It was later ported to the NES console, where it sold over 1 million copies.
The AVI-8 X Capcom 1942 Flyboy Automatic Limited Edition
The new watch collection, called the AVI-8 X Capcom 1942 Flyboy Automatic Limited Edition, comes in two stylish designs.
Blue Ace Edition
The Blue Ace edition costs $365 / £348 and features a stainless steel band with a blue nylon strap.
Black Ace Edition
The slightly more expensive Black Ace edition costs $385 / £367 and has a black stainless steel band with a black nylon strap.
Both designs have a limited production run of 300 pieces, ensuring their exclusivity.
Notably, each watch showcases a small sprite of the protagonist’s plane from 1942 attached to the seconds hand.
“Each watch offers an impressive high specification build, combined with meticulous attention to detail that pays homage to the 1942 game’s world. It truly is a timepiece unlike any other you’ve owned,” according to AVI-8’s promotional statement.
