Brian Michael Bendis and Nick Derington’s Batman Universe, originally released as a 12-part comic, were reprinted this week and reprinted this year in six editions.
As you can guess from the title, it is a far-reaching story with a curvy storyline that is best summed up when “Batman chases a Fabergé egg through space and time to extract it from the hands of Vandal Savage – and you will never guess what’s in it? “At the height of history, Savage erases” Batman “from its existence with a powerful space artifact. However, since he has no idea of his secret identity, he only creates a timeline in which the superhero hunts him anyway Bruce Wayne.
And it turns out that Derington and Bendis, a man as tough as Batman but not really a Batman, looks pretty much like John Wick.
What else happens on the pages of our favorite comics? I will tell you. Welcome to Polygon’s weekly list of books our comic editor has liked over the last seven days. It is part of the social pages of superhero life, part of the reading recommendations, part of the “Look At This Cool Art” article. Here we go!
Batman Universe # 6
Brian Michael Bendis, Nick Derington / DC Comics
You were so busy asking, “Could John Wick kick Batman in the ass?” That you forgot to ask, “What if John Wick is Batman?”
Tom King, Jorge Fornes / DC Comics
Much of what Batman has to offer after the wedding is a hit or miss for me, but this one-of-a-kind backstory in King’s penultimate issue was a success.
The great woman wonder # 10
Saladin Ahmed, Minkyu Jung / Marvel Comics
Some time ago, Marvel got a brand-new costume of mysterious space material that was not suspicious at all, and the costume chickens finally came home to settle there.
The evil of the new year
Vita Ayala, Elena Casagrande / DC Comics
Some of the stories in New Year’s Evil were alright, but Ayala and Casagrande drew a line between Batman: The animated series alumni, Harley Quinn and Renee Montoya, hit me hard.
Thor: The worthy one
Kathryn Immonen, Tom Reilly / Marvel Comics
Another scrapbook, Thor: The Worthy, was supposed to be for legendary Thor writer and artist Walter Simonson to change the character once again, but forgive me. I am a simple woman. They point out the time that Wonder Woman was worth, I put it in the summary.
Dreaming # 16
Simon Spurrier, Marguerite Sauvage / DC Comics
The Dreaming is buried so deeply in the storyline that I do not want to say anything about the story so as not to ruin it. Suffice to say: I love this series and what Spurrier does with it and how the artists in the series bring it to life.
X-Men # 3
Jonathan Hickman, Leinil Francis Yu / Marvel Comics
This week in X-Men, a group of radical ecoterrorists of retirees Cyclops kicked their asses, stole a bouquet of Krakoa, and said some very rude things about Emma Frost.
