Blizzard President Denies Rumors of Diablo 4 on Xbox Game Pass

The president of Blizzard, Mike Ybarra, has addressed the speculation surrounding the availability of Diablo 4 on Xbox Game Pass. This comes after reports suggested that the Brazilian payment app, PicPay, was advertising the game as part of Microsoft’s subscription service.

“This is not happening,” Ybarra stated in response to the report.

While it is currently not in the plans to bring Diablo 4 to Game Pass, Xbox’s head of gaming, Phil Spencer, has expressed Microsoft’s intention to add as many Activision Blizzard titles as possible to the subscription service. This move would be contingent upon the successful acquisition of the company, pending clearance from regulators.

“We intend to make Activision Blizzard’s popular library of games – including Overwatch, Diablo, and Call of Duty – available in Game Pass and foster the growth of these gaming communities,” Spencer explained in September.

However, Microsoft’s proposed $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard is currently facing a legal challenge from the US Federal Trade Commission due to concerns over potential antitrust issues. The outcome of this court battle is still pending.

According to Activision Blizzard, Diablo 4 generated $666 million in sales within the first five days of its release in early June. This achievement solidified its status as Blizzard’s fastest-selling game to date, the publisher announced.

Last week, Blizzard revealed that Diablo 4 Season 1: Season of the Malignant is set to commence on July 20.
