Borderlands 4 Pricing Confusion Resolved at $70 Release

Good News for Fans: Borderlands 4 Pricing Announced

Borderlands 4 has dropped a bombshell: the standard edition price is set at $70, not the expected $80. Fans can breathe a sigh of relief after CEO Randy Pitchford stirred the pot with earlier comments suggesting a higher price might be on the table.

The announcement, made on Monday, confirmed a $130 ‘Super Deluxe Edition’ packed with bonus items and DLC, along with a $150 Collector’s Edition that intriguingly doesn’t include the game itself. With the gaming landscape shifting, this pricing strategy has fans buzzing.

CEO Comments Stir Controversy

Pitchford sparked backlash last month with a tweet responding to a fan’s plea to keep the game under the rising price trend set by major players like Nintendo and Microsoft. He reminisced about shelling out $80 for a Sega Genesis game back in the day, urging “real fans” to make it happen for Borderlands 4.

After catching flak, he clarified his stance, acknowledging the rising costs in game development and manufacturing, which create a tricky pricing dilemma. He promised that when pre-orders open, the price will be finalized, ensuring fans feel like they’re getting value for money.

Alongside pricing, Gearbox has shifted Borderlands 4’s release date from September 23 to September 12, building even more hype. The game will land on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, giving gamers plenty of ways to dive in.

Expect loads of post-launch content, too. Gearbox has promised free and paid DLC, featuring two new playable characters, fresh regions to explore, and additional story missions. Full details will be unveiled soon, making the anticipation even greater.
