After three years of development, we were excited by the popularity of it American refugee at launch, and that so many players enjoyed tearing apart the world we created! After a period of troubleshooting and post-release performance improvements, we added some quality of life features, including a frequently requested mini-map. After things calmed down a bit, we had some time to think about a variety of ideas for DLC content. However, it turned out that more than any other supplement was requested: tanks!
What could be nicer than ripping through the streets of Redrock with an oversized military giant and destroying anyone trying to stop you? Well, you asked, and we listened. We’re happy to confirm that it’s as funny and crazy as you thought it would be. Of course, with such a powerful vehicle, the enemy must respond adequately, so we’ve added soldiers with bazookas, 4 × 4 trucks (a.k.a. jeeps) and miniguns!
In the Game Lore, an army garrison has commanded the old factory in Twin Lakes in response to the spiraling crime wave cops are struggling to curb (a wave of crime that seems to have a key character in the epicenter, Will Riley). The military will only take action when you trigger the brand new six-star level “Wanted” (take that, GTA!). At this time all bets are void.
We’ve also added a new side character, Sarge, who lures you into his conspiratorial paranoia with 10 military challenges. These missions have no effect on the main plot, so they can be played at any point in the game (just like the existing time trials) and you will be rewarded with cold money (which is as good as ammo for your new arsenal is not cheap).
Close the hatches, close and load! It’s a state of emergency, and the army will actually shoot at will!
