Activision Details Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 4 Reloaded
Activision has announced the details of the mid-season update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 4 Reloaded, which will be launching on July 12.
Crossover with The Boys
The update includes a crossover with the popular TV show The Boys. Players will now be able to become Starlight, Homelander, or Black Noir from The Boys by purchasing new Operator bundles with 2,400 COD Points.
In addition, the show’s Temp V serum, which grants users superpowers for a limited time, will also be coming to the game. Players who consume the serum will be given one of four random superpowers in their Field Upgrade slot.
New Multiplayer Map
Modern Warfare 2 will introduce a new core 6v6 map called Vondel Waterfront. This map is an adapted area from the larger Warzone map.
According to Activision, “Operators cannot swim underneath the houseboats and need to keep action mostly on ‘land’ – that is, the pontoon homes on the water and the decks connecting this district together. Additionally, several of the buildings are boarded up, and two of the available four traversable buildings have new coats of paint – Red and Blue – that mark the most prominent positions on the map.”
Special Ops Finale
Season 4 Reloaded also includes the finale to the Special Ops Atomgrad narrative with Raid Episode 04. Players will need to help Task Force 141 escape their imprisonment and finish what they started.
Expanded Warzone Experience
The mid-season update brings the classic Battle Royale experience to the Vondel map with support for up to 72 players. There is also a new Gulag set in Vondel castle’s wine cellar and dungeon.
Returning features include the Signals Intelligence Contract, the Portable Redeploy Drone, and the Occupation Scan. The Occupation Scan is an in-match event that reveals the locations of all players who fail to go prone or dive underwater in time.
Map Rotation System
Season 4 Reloaded will introduce a map rotation system in Resurgence playlists, switching between Vondel and Ashika Island after a certain amount of time specified in-game.
Sneak Peek of the Next Call of Duty Title
Recently, several NBA players were given a demo of the unannounced Call of Duty title for 2023. The game is rumored to be a continuation of last year’s Modern Warfare 2, developed by Sledgehammer Games.
