Call of Duty: Modern Warfare revives Grind, the risky alternative to Kill Confirmed

Infinity Ward has enhanced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with a new game mode that combines the tactical pace of the target modes with the hectic running and shooting of Team Deathmatch. The mode is called Grind and, although played in Call of Duty games in the past, is the first time in Modern Warfare 2019.

Grind first appeared in Call of Duty: Ghosts and has since appeared in other games in the series, sometimes under alternative names like Stockpile and Fracture. The mode is a combination of the “Kill Confirmed” and “Hard Spot” modes, in which opponents place dog tags when they are killed by opposing players.

Players must collect these tags and take them to a specific destination to score points. Both teams must return markers in the same areas to score points. This makes these areas on the map very competitive. The delivery points also change periodically as the individual matches progress.

Players can collect more than one dog tag at a time, but they drop them all if they are killed before giving them up. So each run to the point location becomes a question of risk compared to reward. You can also collect the dog tags of your own fallen teammates and deny opposing players their score.

Grind is now available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It is unclear whether the mode is a permanent addition to the game or a temporary feature of the first game season. Grind has replaced Drop Zone mode, which was available for about a week.
