The first season of content is on the 3rd of December at the door of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Almost all content, from multiplayer maps to new modes, will be available for free and on all platforms simultaneously. Activision calls the first season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare “the largest free content drop in the history of Call of Duty”.
At least six multiplayer maps will be released in the first season, including a handful of maps first released in Modern Warfare 2007. These cards can be played in traditional multiplayer mode, in the new Gunfight mode and in Ground War mode.
The following has been confirmed for the first season:
- Crash (Multiplayer Map): The legendary Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare card has returned with all the adjoining routes and action packed rooftop encounters you can remember.
- Free (multiplayer map): An abandoned office, previously visited in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, leads to intense combat inside the complex.
- Shipping (Multiplayer and Gunfight Map): The classic Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare card, where fast and wild action is paramount.
- Harbor Warfare: Fight huge shipping boxes, cranes, buildings, and roads in this unique Earth Warfare map.
- Cargo (Gunfight Map): An open-roof storage vessel for shipping containers on the docks of London.
- Atrium (Gunfight Map): The heart of a Verdansky palace that is still intact despite the raging conflict.
Season 1 also introduces two new traditional multiplayer modes: “Reinforce”, a mix of “Domination” and “Search and Destroy” as well as “Infected”. Modern Warfare players also gain access to On Site Procurement (O.S.P.), a shooting mode where players “just start with their fists and collect gear as the game progresses”.
Activision
In the first season, at least four new Special Ops experiences will also be presented. From the table of contents of Activision:
- Special Ops Experience: Armed forces still loyal to Barkov have used explosives in the city of Al-Raab. They are here to defuse the situation.
- Grounded (Special Ops Experience): Enemies have conquered Barkov’s former air base. Activate and eliminate them.
- Pitch Black (Special Ops Experience): Infiltrate Barkov’s former estate and recover all necessary information before deploying a tactical rover.
- Only Ops Experience: Your squad targets the head of a hostile financial operation, hacking its data centers and gaining information.
Activision also pointed to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s new Battle Pass system, which will include a number of unlockable items, including new cosmetics and two new weapons: the automatic Bullpup Assault Rifle Ram-7 and the Light Holger. 26-machine rifle.
