Cloud Imperium Games has recently made some changes to their staff, with a number of high profile employees departing from the Star Citizen studio. According to reports from Massively Overpowered, employees like Dane Kubicka, Vincent Sinatra, Andrew Rexroth, Todd Papy, Jake Ross, Dan Trufin, and Annie Bouffard have either been laid off or left the company.
In a post on LinkedIn, Dane Kubicka mentioned being laid off as a Level Designer due to restructuring, while Vincent Sinatra shared that he had been with the company for 8 1/2 years before being laid off. Andrew Rexroth also announced his departure, expressing his positive experience working at Cloud Imperium but wishing to have continued on with them.
Although not confirmed, it is speculated that some of these departures may be related to the studio’s requirement for staff to relocate to a new office in Manchester, England.
Star Citizen started as a Kickstarter campaign in 2012, raising $2.1 million initially. Since then, the game has remained in an ‘alpha’ state, continuously raising funds through crowdfunding. To date, the game has amassed over $500 million in funding.
Overall, these changes may have an impact on the future development of Star Citizen, and fans will be eagerly waiting to see how Cloud Imperium Games moves forward.
