The Battlefield series has seen a major shakeup as Craig Morrison, the studio creative director at EA’s DICE, has made a move to Blue Scarab Entertainment in Stockholm, Sweden. With a background at Funcom and Blizzard, including time as a principal designer on World of Warcraft, Morrison brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Morrison’s departure comes amidst EA’s plans to create a “connected Battlefield universe,” which has already seen former creative director Lars Gustavsson leave DICE after 22 years. In addition, Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn and Infinity Ward, has taken on a new role overseeing the entire Battlefield franchise.

EA recently closed Ridgeline Games, the studio working on a future Battlefield single-player game, following the departure of Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto. Criterion Games, known for their work on Need for Speed games, will now be leading Battlefield’s single-player experience.

With Zampella and Byron Beede at the helm, EA is confident in the progress being made on the ambitious vision for the Battlefield franchise. DICE is actively involved in developing both single-player and multiplayer experiences for the series, alongside Ripple Effect who is working on a separate Battlefield project.

Overall, EA is excited about the future of Battlefield, with the largest team in franchise history dedicated to creating a platform that fans will love. With passionate individuals across the globe and strong leadership in place, the Battlefield series is shaping up to offer an exciting gaming experience for players.
