What’s Coming and When?
The announcement coincides with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2. Later in June, players can look forward to new side quests as part of Update 2.3. CD Projekt confirmed they’ve been “cooking in secret,†hinting that the best is yet to come.
This update promises to enhance both the base game and the fantastic Phantom Liberty expansions, rolling out across PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. This marks the third unexpected update since the studio initially announced it was finished with Cyberpunk development. More details are on the way, so keep your eyes peeled!
The Future of the Franchise
Alongside this surprise, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is now in preproduction, previously known as Project Orion. This new chapter is being led by CD Projekt Red’s North American team, with studios based in Boston and Vancouver.
Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the Cyberpunk universe, teased that the upcoming sequel will introduce players to a new city described as “Chicago gone wrong.” Although he’s not as closely involved as he was with the original, he’s keeping tabs on its development. Expect Night City to return alongside another undisclosed locale, offering an exhilarating experience for fans.
