Google Stadia could not be started smoothly, and the stream of avoidable mistakes keeps coming from Google’s new gaming platform. On December 5th, THQ Nordic and Airship Syndicate Darksiders Genesis launched on Google Stadia, and strangely, the Stadia version costs $ 10 more than the version on the PC.
When Stadia was launched, Google Stadia Pro subscribers were granted a discount on certain game versions – up to 50 percent off titles like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot. But Stadia does not offer a per-discount for Darksiders Genesis. At Stadia Genesis costs $ 39.99, but if you pre-ordered the game on Steam, you only had to pay $ 25.50 – nearly $ 15 less than Stadia. Even if you have not pre-ordered Genesis, you can now buy the game for $ 29.99 on Steam, GOG or Humble.
Polygon contacted THQ Nordic to get information about the price difference between platforms. However, a spokesman for the publishing house said: “THQ does not comment on its pricing policy.”
Darksider’s Genesis is one of only 24 games available on the new platform. This makes bizarre the introduction of an expected new title at a higher price than other platforms. Some stewards are pricing in the $ 10 premium for previous release releases, where console versions of certain games cost more than their PC counterparts. However, this pricing model is outdated, especially for a platform that is definitely not a console.
While our reviewer did not particularly like it, Darksider’s Genesis is now available for stadiums and Windows PCs.
