Diablo 4: A Multi-Billionaire Fan and the Challenges Ahead
Introduction
What do you think of Diablo? After one version free-to-play which did more harm than good, the series returned from the dead with Diablo 4, released June 6, 2023 on PC and consoles. An episode which – although it “twists” some fundamentals – was super well received by the press. On the Metacritic ratings aggregator, if theon averages reviews on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, on falls on an 88/100. On , it’s a nice 17/20… “Blizzard delivers here a more than successful formula of its saga which is today the best way to discover it” we wrote – at the time.
A Multi-Billionaire Diablo 4 Fan
You know who else likes Diablo 4? It’s billionaire Elon Musk… owner of Twitter (now “X”), Space X and Tesla. In a post shared yesterday on son network social, he describes Blizzard’s latest baby as an “awesome title.” Same honorable mention for the first two episodes of the license, which he describes as “excellent”. However, the businessman does not carry Diablo 3 in son heart, a part “he didn’t like”. In 2012, this third opus caused controversy for son Auction house, a system that notably allowed players to purchase equipment for real money. Enough to encourage the community to raise their voices. Diablo’s salt has always been about pushing the limits of difficulty to get items increasingly rare and powerful.
Diablo I & II were excellent. Didn’t love Diablo III, but IV is great.

The Challenges Ahead
After a flying start, the Diablo 4 phenomenon is now encountering some turbulence. In cause, the 1st season of hack’n’slash, which clearly does not make everyone happy. Players mention, for example, classes that have become too weak, a not very rewarding loot and problems with the Battle Pass. A few days ago, Blizzard deployed a first patch which notably increases the difficulty, but the community is still divided… A case to follow.
