Discover the New Chronological Mode in The Last of Us Part 2

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered just dropped an exciting update that gamers can’t ignore. This free patch introduces a groundbreaking way to experience the story, allowing players to delve into the narrative chronologically—not the non-linear style that defined the original.

“Through the new Chronological mode, we believe players will gain even deeper insight into Part II’s narrative,” said Jonathon Dornbush, editorial content manager at Naughty Dog. Imagine seeing Ellie’s journey unfold from the moment she receives a guitar to mastering it, showcasing the intricate parallels between her experiences and Abby’s in Seattle.

The update is now live on both PS5 (Patch 2.1.0) and PC, via Steam and the Epic Games Store (Patch 1.5). Alongside the Chronological mode, players can expect enhanced performance, as well as bug fixes that promise a smoother gameplay experience.

Moreover, fans of the game will love the addition of two fresh skins for the No Return mode. Joel dons the look of Nathan Drake while Tommy channels Sam Drake—part of Naughty Dog’s year-long 40th-anniversary celebration. This is a fun nod for longtime fans of both franchises.

But wait, there’s more! During The Game Awards 2024, Naughty Dog teased their next big project: Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Set in a thrilling sci-fi universe, it features a bounty hunter named Jordan A. Mun who finds himself stranded on a mysterious planet called Sempiria, where contact with the outside world vanished centuries ago. With a soundtrack composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, anticipation is already building.

Studio leader Neil Druckmann hinted that while multiple projects are in the works, they won’t all be direct sequels to The Last of Us. However, they’ll share a similar creative ambition, ensuring that The Last of Us spirit endures.
